 Irish Captain W. Carden-Roe's 1916 Officer's Whistle & Dog Tag  Irish Captain W. Carden-Roe's 1916 Officer's Whistle & Dog Tag

This is Captain W. Carden-Roe's, 1916 dated officers whistle with leather strap and his private purchase dog tag. His dog tag has unfortunately become a little corroded and needs a clean but as I am not an expert on cleaning this type of metal, I will leave it to the buyer to sort out. As far as I can make out the dog tag reads as follows: "CAPT W. CARDEN-ROE IR. R. C.E.". The CE stands for church of England and what I believe to be "IR. R.", I think stands for Irish Rifles. This is a very nice set of artefacts belonging to Captain Carden-Roe, who could have easily used this very whistle during the Somme campaign in 1916. So few officer's whistles have provenance, it is therefore nice to be able to attribute this one to the person who used it during his service in the Great War. POSTAGE: £5.50.

Great to send to friends family or would look excellent framed., German Temporary Grave Marker Plaque - Western Front, This is a very rare temporary grave marker for a German soldier killed during the war. Unfortunately by their very nature most of these plaques were simply thrown away after the formal headstone was put in place. Fortunately this one survived and would provide and excellent research project for anyone interested in the Imperial German Army during the war. The plaque is named to Karl Munch who died on the 12/04/1918 during the German Spring Offensive. It says on the back (handwritten on a stuck on label) "Bousbecque Nord" which I am confident refers to the German Cemetery there and though I cannot be certain I assume that Munch is buried there. Perhaps if anyone is making a trip to the battlefields they may have the time to go to the cemetery to confirm this., This is a good condition original 1914 Princess Mary Tin.
